Russ Olsen
Russ Olsen has been building software for more than 25 years. He is currently employed by a small
defense contractor. Over the years, he has led projects through the adaption of several generations
of programming technologies: from FORTRAN to C to C++ to Java. He has been involved with Ruby
since 2002. He has considerable experience explaining complex technologies to managers, peers, and
customers. He currently leads a study group on Ruby and writes a popular technology blog,
Technology As If People Mattered. He also just completed
a book for the Addison-Wesley Professional Ruby Series entitled "Design Patterns in Ruby."

Bob Kiel
Bob Kiel has been building software for more than 20 years. He started his career developing applications in C on Unix platforms. He briefly did some work using other languages such as Ada and Perl. These days, at his day job, he leads a small team Java developers building enterprise web applications. Since learning about Ruby a few years ago, he spends his off hours developing web sites for non-profit organizations using Ruby. He has also developed and is currently teaching an Introduction to Ruby Programming class.
